Troll's roots can be traced back to 1929, when Julio Feliu de la Penya started a
small company specializing in the production and marketing of electrical lighting
equipment. A family reorganization in 1974 brought in new investors, along with an even
stronger resolve to deliver innovative interior lighting solutions.
The commitment didn't go unnoticed. The 80's and 90's marked a period of stunning
global expansion for Troll. Their reputation for outstanding client relations and unique
architectural lighting schemes grew rapidly. Headquartered in Barcelona, Troll is one of
Spain's leading lighting manufacturers, with additional offices in Germany, France, Italy,
Egypt, and Mexico.
Troll is not restricted by the well-trodden traditions of the industrial lighting culture.
While form is based on function, beautiful presentation is considered a top priority. The firm's
designers strive to maintain a sense of character and unity throughout all product lines.
Boasting some of the industry's top minds with state-of-the-art computer facilities at their
fingertips, Troll can be counted on to deliver the pleasantly unexpected. In fact, over the last
thirty years Troll has collected numerous international design awards. In 1991, they captured three
IF awards for industrial design from the Industrie Forum Design in Hannover, Germany.
Dedication to product dependability and safety also plays a large part in Troll's success. They
were the first Spanish company to receive ENEC certification, and to date Troll remains on the
forefront of creative lighting engineering and manufacturing. The company takes pride in the respect
they've earned for high production values, use of quality materials, and the meticulous care given to
their luminaires from conception to delivery.
In Spain alone, Troll installations include the Palacio de Congresso, the Bolsa Madrid, and the
Hotel Barrosa Park, to name just a few.
